Alternatywne, drewniane budownictwo

Alternative wooden construction. The construction industry, especially when it comes to single-family houses, offers several technologies. Standard construction based on brick and similar materials, prepared from mixtures containing cement and other aggregates, dominates. However, more and more investors pay attention to forgotten technologies, i.e. those using clay, wood or ready-made elements (the so-called conglomerates using a wide range of semi-finished products).

Advantages of wooden houses

Log houses , wooden houses, and Canadian houses are associated with mountain views for most of us. However, such thinking is based on the pigeonholing of interesting and ecological technologies. Examples include Scandinavia and Canada, where this solution is promoted. As you can see, they work well in much more severe climatic conditions than those prevailing in Poland.

Contrary to appearances, it is a durable solution that is additionally based on natural materials. To confirm this statement, you can look at wooden buildings built about a hundred years ago, most of which are in good condition. Of course, no matter which way you choose to build your home, each of them will involve maintenance.

It is worth noting that the construction of a log house itself can be completed in three months. In this case, it is not necessary to prepare the foundations and carry out other wet works, which are undoubtedly dependent on the weather conditions. Building such a house can be compared to building with blocks, which is a big advantage. Such a house can be assembled and unfolded at any time and moved when necessary.

Wood is not only an excellent building material, but also a product that enjoys exceptional thermal insulation properties. By choosing logs with a diameter of 22 centimeters, additional insulation is no longer necessary, which allows you to reduce the costs incurred in building a log house . Wood, apart from being a great insulator, provides a favorable microclimate at home. This solution is especially recommended for people suffering from allergies. That is why many users of wooden houses are surprised that standard construction is still chosen.

Another advantage of houses, especially made of logs, is the cost of one square meter of the finished building. It ranges from PLN 1,700 to PLN 2,500. Compared to brick technology, this is often a much lower amount. In addition, a lot of time is gained during the implementation of the project that is consumed by the construction – and this is another saving, which is also associated with costs.

The amount incurred, and similarly to other construction solutions, depends on the solutions used, such as: heating (gas, fireplace or with a water jacket, which can be combined with the distribution of underfloor heating), roofing (ceramic tile, metal roofing tile or ecological roofing) thatch or aspen shingles), the size of the building (design catalogs mostly cover the range of 50 – 300 square meters), used logs and joining technology. These are only some of the factors that are taken into account when preparing a construction cost estimate. Before the finalization begins, it is worth getting acquainted with the detailed valuation prepared by the construction company.

Wooden house designs , as with other house building solutions, are very diverse. Wooden houses in Szczecin are built as single-storey and multi-storey houses. Their size most often oscillates between 60 and 90 square meters. However, among the numerous, interesting projects, you can also find designs for villas over 100 square meters. The range here is considerable, because you can find houses ranging from 120 to 280 square meters. The number of rooms and their size depends on the selected project or changes introduced with the architect. A large number of architectural projects includes additional elements, such as a roofed terrace, a single or double garage, an attic, a wardrobe and many other amenities.

Alternative solutions using wooden houses

As mentioned, in Poland, wooden houses are most often found in the mountains. However, this solution is more and more often used in other parts of the country. Log houses and other wooden houses are in many cases a solution for a year-round flat. Nevertheless, this type of construction can be found very often in recreational areas, such as plots (Family Allotment Gardens) or around lakes and forests. In this case, the solution is also supported by the speed of construction, cost and formal considerations.

It is worth emphasizing that small houses made of wood and alternative materials have their own charm. Very often, the future owners are much more involved in the construction of their home than would be possible with traditional construction. You could say that such houses have an infused spirit. To sum up, log houses are definitely a solution worthy of attention of many investors. Construction of this type combines many features, ranging from aesthetic and ecological considerations to time and money saved.
