Wedding sessions. How to choose a photographer. Preparing a wedding ceremony and reception is endless costs that can make you dizzy. All issues require an appropriate planned budget, because it rarely happens that a young couple can afford to freely choose everything to their liking, without paying attention to the price. One of the basic costs that should be taken into account when organizing a wedding, right after the dress and the wedding hall, is the photographer. It is worth starting your search early enough to be able to freely use the services of a person who will fully meet our expectations.
Why is it worth having a photographer at your own wedding
Some people believe that in the era of modern devices, mirror cameras at your fingertips and other benefits of technology, a photographer at a wedding is an unnecessary expense. After all, Uncle Władek will take his camera and take photos. Are you sure? This idea may save you some money, but the nerves behind it are certainly not worth it. First of all, with all due respect to Mr. Władek, how many weddings did his uncle photograph? If this is his first such occasion, it is worth noting that wedding photography is slightly different from amateur photos taken at the family table. It requires a bit more skill in handling the appropriate frame and light. Secondly, our proverbial uncle is also one of the guests and he would certainly like to have fun like other people at our wedding, instead of running around with the camera and taking pictures.
As a result, it may turn out that we have only a few photos from the wedding, three of which are overexposed, two are blurred, and the rest are photos of his wife with his daughter and son with his daughter-in-law. It is probably not a good memento of such an important day. Thirdly, it’s the family, and the family is allowed more, so if, for example, it turns out that the photos are of unsatisfactory quality, we will only be able to blame ourselves and the money in our pocket that was not spent on a professional. The unnecessary stress of watching over or having your uncle take pictures can ruin the whole day of the bride and groom, and deprive them of beautiful mementos in the form of wedding photography.
How much is a professional photographer
The amount that should be spent on professional wedding photography depends on many factors. First of all, the experience and quality of services provided by a given person is a key factor. If it offers comprehensive services along with making a photobook, it will translate into a higher price of the service. The equipment used by the photographer is also one of the issues that affects the final amount. The newer and more professional the equipment, the higher the price, but this is not always the rule. The location of the ceremony is also influencing, as in smaller cities the services of wedding photographers, due to the high competition, are often priced much lower than in metropolises.
Many people have the wrong impression that photographers over-value their services, but when you take into account the costs of replacing equipment, photo processing software, disks for data archiving and other costs related to business activities, in the end, the photographer does not have too much money “purely”. Regardless, it is worth spending about 5% of your wedding budget on souvenir wedding photos. This amount will allow you to choose the right person, without unnecessary looking for the cheapest option.
However, the offer presented by the photographer should contain not only the price, but also a detailed description of what is included in the service. Any doubts related to the taking of photos should always be clarified before signing the contract in order to avoid problematic misinterpretations. A common practice that young couples may encounter are several service packages at different prices, which include, for example, a different number of photos that they will finally receive after the wedding, the duration of the photographer’s stay at the party, as well as a form of transferring photos.
Young couples decide to take photos outdoors, they should first of all choose the same photographer to take them, who captured the wedding itself and the wedding. This will allow you to achieve a stylistically consistent effect that will look great in a family album. More and more often, photographers also propose taking such photos on a deferred date, for example one month after the wedding itself. This solution allows you to focus fully on the ceremony itself, and also does not force the bride and groom to leave the guests during the wedding. In addition, the photos taken after all the fuss are more precise and prettier, because they are not associated with the stress of the wedding. The last advantage of this solution is the ability to choose any location outdoors, even hundreds of kilometers from the place of residence. All these aspects make the decision to hire a professional for wedding photography fully right and not an unnecessary expense that can give you apparent savings.
